IMPORTANT REMARKS

This application form is for "Selected Indie 80", where indie game developers can exhibit at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024 (TGS2024 / period: September 26-29, 2024) for free. 80 exhibitors will be selected based on the application content. Applicants will be notified of the selection results by email after mid-May.
In addition, 8 teams with excellent game ideas will be selected as finalists for the game idea presentation contest “SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2024” (SOWN2024). They will appear as a presenter at SOWN2024, which is scheduled to be held on Friday, September 27. The presentation will be broadcast on the official TGS program and archived.
The personal information submitted for the “Selected Indie 80” will be collected by Nikkei Business Publications Inc. It will then be managed in full compliance with Privacy Statement of Nikkei Business Publications Inc. Also, the same information will be provided to respective third parties, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) , the organizer of TOKYOI GAME SHOW 2024 and DENTSU, the co-organizers of TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024 for the purpose of the sending information(e-mail, direct mail and research questionnaire etc.). After Providing Personal Information to the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and DENTSU each will then manage your information on its own responsibility.


The information related to the title entered at the time of entry will be posted on the website, etc., and will be shared with outsourced companies that have signed confidentiality agreements, judges, and sponsor companies that support "Selected Indie 80".


In addition, TGS Management Office sends e-mails, etc., on behalf of various sponsor companies (information on meetings, products/services, exhibitions/seminars/events, etc.) and requests for surveys, etc.

【Rules Governing TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024】
(For Selected Indie 80)

At TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024, with the support of sponsors, we will set up "Selected Indie 80" where indie game developers can exhibit for free at Indie Game Area. Please check the application qualifications and application conditions, and apply for "Selected Indie 80" if you are an individual or group that meets your requirements.

Entry titles will be screened by the TGS Management Office to determine exhibitors. The selected exhibitors will also be automatically entered as candidates for the presentation contest "SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2024" (SOWN2024), where game ideas are competed. Eight titles with excellent ideas will be selected by a judging panel, and their developers will be SOWN finalists. Finalists will present their titles at SOWN2024, scheduled for the second day of TGS (September 27th). The presentation will be broadcast on the official TGS program and archived.

The personal information submitted for the "Selected Indie 80" will be collected by Nikkei Business Publications Inc. ■Determination of applicants/exhibitors/Conclusion of contracts

1. Businesses, organizations, and individuals who wish to exhibit at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024 (hereinafter, "the SHOW") "Selected Indie 80" (hereinafter, "the Event") must comply with the " TOKYO GAME SHOW 2024 Exhibition Regulations" ( For Selected Indie 80) (hereafter referred to as the “Rules”), I hereby apply to exhibit at the exhibition related to the Event.

2. Overview of the SHOW
September 26-29, 2024
Venue: Makuhari Messe ( https://www.m-messe.co.jp/en/ )
Organizer: COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SUPPLIER’S ASSOCIATION (CESA)
Co-Organizer: Nikkei Business Publications, Inc.  DENTSU INC.
*The organizer and co-organizer are collectively referred to as the “Management Office”.

3. Management Office will receive an exhibition application from an applicant for exhibiting at the Event, confirm the details of the application, and if the applicant passes the examination, Management Office will send an "Exhibition Application Acceptance Notice" to the applicant. The execution of the exhibition contract for the Event between Management Office and the exhibitor will be completed at the time when the exhibitor wishes to exhibit and notifies Management Office of their intention to accept the transmission by e-mail. (Hereinafter, the exhibitor who has signed the contract shall be referred to as the “exhibitor”)

4. Unless otherwise specified, the exhibition guidelines separately determined by Management Office, as well as various regulations, guidelines, instructions, etc., shall constitute a part of these Rules.

■Contents of Services Provided to Exhibitors (For Selected Indie 80)

Management Office will provide the following services free of charge to the exhibitors selected for Selected Indie 80.

  • ・A dedicated booth will be set up in the Indie Game Area at the Makuhari Messe venue.
  • ・5 exhibitor passes
  • ・Internet WiFi Access at the booth (no guaranteed bandwidth)
  • ・Exhibitor name is posted on the "Exhibitor List" page.
  • ・Exhibitor introduction pages on the TGS official website are provided. (Japanese and English versions)
  • ・Link the exhibitor's Steam page on the TGS special site set up on Steam
  • ・Use of TGS Business Matching System
■Implementation of the Rules

1. Exhibitors shall comply with these rules and regulations, guidelines, policies, instructions, etc. presented by Management Office.

2. If Management Office determines that the exhibitor has violated the Rules and conditions set forth in the preceding paragraph, including these Rules and Conditions, has caused a nuisance to a third party, or acted contrary to public order and morals, Management Office will, at its own discretion, terminate the exhibition contract. You may request cancellation, instructions to stop or change display, posting, or distribution of content, or other necessary measures.

3. In accordance with the preceding paragraph, Management Office will not compensate the exhibitor for any damages.

4. The disclaimer in the preceding paragraph shall not apply if there are separate provisions in laws and regulations.

5. If Management Office suffers damages pursuant to Paragraph 3, Management Office may claim compensation from the exhibitor.

■Eligibility for Exhibiting in the Event

Management Office will select exhibitors at its own discretion. Management Office criteria are companies, organizations and individuals that provide game software in line with the purpose of this exhibition and the Event.

■Sale prohibited

Exhibitors are not permitted to sell goods or services within the exhibition venue.

■Exhibition regulations in the exhibition hall (Makuhari Messe venue)

1. Exhibitors will comply with the following items.

  • (1) Strictly observe the "booth decoration/construction method," "soune volume, exhibition content/method," and "directing/management method" stipulated in the exhibition guidelines.
  • (2) In the production in the booth, excessive production such as sexual expression and discriminatory expression that goes against public order and morals is not allowed.
  • (3) Your company's exhibition must not interfere with the neighborhood, other exhibitors, related parties, etc.
  • (4) Complete booth decorations during the exhibition preparation period specified in the exhibition guidelines, and complete all booth decorations before the start of the Event.
  • (5) Remove all exhibits and decorations on the same day during the removal time period specified by Management Office in the exhibition guidelines.
  • (6) Do not remove all or part of the exhibits during the exhibition period without the prior consent of Management Office.
  • (7) Strictly observe all rules and regulations related to fire prevention and safety that apply to the exhibition venue.

2. If an exhibitor violates any of the items in the preceding paragraph and Management Office requests or directs improvement, the exhibitor shall respond at its own expense and responsibility.

■Exhibitor Name

・Exhibitors acknowledge that Management Office may use the exhibitor name entered in the Web Entry Form at the Event in advertisements at the real exhibition and on TGS official website. When applying to exhibit, exhibitors must enter Exhibitor Name to be displayed at the Event in the Web Entry Form.

■Determination of Booth Location

・Booth locations for Selected Indie 80 will be determined by the organizer.

■Prohibition of Subleasing

Exhibitors may not transfer or lend to a third party (with or without transfer or rental fees, etc.) the contractual status and rights arising from these Rules without the prior written consent of Management Office.

■Liability for Damages
  • 1. Except as provided for by law, Management Office will not be held responsible for any damages, injuries, etc. caused by exhibitors (including employees, contractors, etc.) in connection with the exhibition at the Event.
  • 2. Exhibitors are responsible for handling rights related to items to be exhibited at the Event in advance at their own expense and responsibility.
  • 3. Management Office will not be responsible for compensation for accidents (including theft, loss, fire, damage, etc.) related to exhibitors' exhibits, except in cases where Management Office is responsible. Exhibitors shall take appropriate measures, such as taking out insurance at their own expense and responsibility, as necessary, to protect exhibits during transportation and exhibition.
  • 4. Exhibitors shall bear all costs associated with changes in decoration/structural methods, sound volume, display content/methods, staging methods, etc. caused by instructions from Management Office. We are not obligated to pay.
  • 5. Exhibitors shall be liable for any and all damages to buildings, structures or facilities of this exhibition caused by the carelessness of their employers or related parties.
  • 6. Management Office shall not be held responsible for any accidental typographical errors, omissions, etc. that occur on the TGS official website for the SHOW and the Event, or any other promotional materials.
  • 7. Management Office may announce the expected number of visitors to the SHOW and the Event, but it is only an estimate and does not guarantee the number.
■Burden of Equipment, etc.

Exhibitors shall prepare and maintain the computers, software, and other equipment necessary to receive the services of the Event, as well as prevent computer virus infection, unauthorized access, and information leakage according to their own usage environment. You shall take such security measures at your own expense and responsibility.

■Force Majeure

If it is difficult or impossible to hold the SHOW due to force majeure, or if there is a possibility that force majeure may occur, the SHOW will be cancelled, postponed or have the period changed based on the judgment of Management Office.
Management Office shall not be liable to the Exhibitor in the Event that the Exhibitor suffers any damages due to postponement, change of the SHOW period, or cancellation of the SHOW due to the above reasons. For the purpose of this agreement, force majeure includes the following cases:

  • 1. In the event of an emergency inspection of the computer system related to the SHOW or the Event.
  • 2. Shutdown of computers, communication lines, etc. due to an accident.
  • 3. Natural disasters (including earthquakes, typhoons, storms, tsunami, flooding, landslides, lightning, explosions, fire, etc.)
  • 4. Social disruption (including war, terrorism, hostilities, rebellion, riot, civil disturbance, etc.)
  • 5. Acts by public authority (including revision and abolition of laws, government intervention, administrative orders, trade bans, etc.)
  • 6. Spread of infectious diseases (including bacterial infections and viral infections etc.)
    Due to the epidemic and spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19, etc.) and other infectious diseases, the national government, local governments, designated public institutions, or designated local public institutions have enacted the Act on Special Measures against New Influenza, etc. [Act No. 31 of May 11 , 2012], we may cancel or postpone all or part of the SHOW or the Event, or request a change in content.
  • 7. Insufficient materials and resources (including supply interruptions of electricity, gas, and water; oil shortage, shortage of raw materials and other materials.
  • 8. Labor disputes (including strikes, sabotage, lock-outs, etc.)
  • 9. Defaulting of important business partners (including bankruptcy or business failure of venue management company)
  • 10. Matters not attributable to Management Office that are not included in the preceding items
■Sharing of Personal Information among Nikkei BP

    On the Nikkei BP website and various Internet services, access information of users may be automatically acquired using IP addresses, cookies, web beacons, etc. as clues.

  • (8) About anonymous processing information
    When creating anonymously processed information, the personal information is processed according to the standards stipulated by the rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission, and at the time of creation and provision to a third party, the information about the individual included in the anonymously processed information is processed via the Internet, etc. Nikkei BP will publish the item.

  • (9) Handling of personal information of people residing in the EU and the United Kingdom
    Nikkei BP manages properly the personal information of people living in the EU (European Union including Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and the UK in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the English law equivalent to the regulation.

  • (10) Regarding the handling of personal information of everyone residing in the state of California, USA
    Nikkei BP will appropriately manage the personal information of those residing in California, USA, in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 and the California Privacy Rights Act.
